Radovan Jovic, 33, a member of the Aberdeen Police Department is facing a host of charges following an investigation by the Cecil County Sheriff's Office into allegations of a sexual assault.
According to police, in January, the department was made aware of the assault claim involving a member of the agency, later confirming the officer implicated, prompting the investigation.
In February, investigators were provided with the information that led Jovic's suspension, and it is alleged that he committed the act in March 2019 in the 2000 block of West Creek Village apartments in Cecil County.
Jovic was arrested on Monday, Oct. 7 and charged with:
- Second-degree rape;
- Third-degree sex offense;
- Fourth-degree sex offense;
- Second-degree assault;
- False imprisonment;
- Misconduct in office.
Jovic, who was a six-year veteran of the department was assigned as an acting corporal in the patrol division, had his police powers immediately suspended when the alleged crime came to light.
